DOT Urine Split Specimen Collector's Training

Purpose

The purpose of this DOT Urine Split Specimen Collector's Training is to certify individuals to conduct urine specimen collections for Department of Transportation (DOT) drug testing IAW 49 CFR Part 40.

Procedure

DOT Urine Split Specimen Collector's Training consists of two phases.

Phase 1: Study/review the material in the DOT Collector Training and Certification presentation below, and pass a certification exam with a score of at least 70% (link to exam will be provided by ASAP to course registrants approximately 2 weeks prior to the course).

Due to the large file size, you will need to download this zipped file to your computer, and then review the material from your computer rather than directly from the website.

Phase 2: Demonstrate five error free DOT collections (mocks) consisting of: two uneventful collections, one insufficient quantity, one temperature out of range, and one donor refuses to sign CCF and initial specimen bottle seals.

Currently, the Drug Testing Branch either at the conclusion of the IBTC course or by another means coordinated through the Drug Testing Branch administers all DOT certification examinations and mock collections. Please contact the Drug Testing Branch for coordinating examinations and mocks.
