Unit Prevention Leaders (UPL) Training

The Army Center for Substance Abuse Programs is the proponent for Unit Prevention Leader training and certification. Prevention Coordinators are required to use the ASAP approved certification course. The products below provide local ASAP staffs the tools and resources to provide the complete UPL Certification Course.

UPL Certification Training Program
Version 2.2 (August 2005) and Version 2.21 (June 2006)

ASAP made a major revision in 2005 to the UPLCTP; the major revisions are listed below. In June 2006 ASAP updated the deployed testing requirements and incorporated the new Base Area codes in IRAQ and Afghanistan. Both versions are acceptable for use. The revised CD ROM contains:

  • Information on certifying new UPLs while deployed
  • Information on the "Warrior Pride" Substance Abuse Prevention Campaign
  • Both a DTP (Female) and a hand written (Male) pictorial collection
  • Recent changes to the laboratory testing menu
  • New Quality Control Practical Exercise
  • Slide presentations with lesson plans for unit training also available on this website
  • Updated "Resource Center" with forms, signs, labels, laboratory mailing labels, Base Area Codes, references and points of contact.

The following materials are available for download, but are also provided on the UPLCTP version 2.2 CD ROM.
